Charter of Conduct & House Rules – AMV Students & Members

Preamble

The Art & Mouvement Vermont (AMV) Academy is a place of practice, respect and sharing around Brazilian Jiu‑Jitsu, Grappling and related disciplines.
This Charter sets common rules to ensure a safe, respectful and demanding environment that supports everyone’s progress.

For contractual aspects (payments, suspensions, termination, legal venue, etc.), please refer to the AMV GTC in force.


1. Core values

  • Respect: for oneself, instructors, students, staff, facilities and neighbours.

  • Discipline: punctuality, consistency, commitment to practice.

  • Safety: strict application of instructions; protection of everyone’s integrity.

  • Transmission: openness, learning, sharing knowledge.

  • Authenticity: clear, honest and caring communication.

  • Academy spirit: high standards, humility, continuous improvement.


2. Bookings & check‑in (CRM)

  • Classes may require booking via the CRM (SportNow).

  • Please check in on arrival.

  • Cancellation: if you cannot attend, cancel your booking at least 3 hours before class to free the spot for another member.

  • No‑show: after 2 un‑cancelled absences within 30 days, AMV may temporarily restrict your booking privileges (up to 7 days).

  • AMV reserves the right to adjust these settings (cancellation window, thresholds) and to inform members via the website/CRM.


3. Punctuality & movement around the premises

  • Arrive a few minutes early; classes start on time.

  • If you are late, wait for the coach’s approval before entering the mats and join without disrupting the group.

  • Phones must remain on silent mode inside the Academy.


4. Attire & hygiene

  • Mats: clean, disinfected bare feet; flip‑flops required off the mats.

  • Attire: clean gi/no‑gi, short nails, no jewellery; hair tied if needed.

  • Wounds: cover any lesion with bandage + tape; if a skin infection is suspected, do not train and inform the coach.

  • Hydration: closed water bottles only; no food on the mats/training areas.

  • Equipment: clean and put away after use (cleaning spray/cloth provided).


5. Safety on the mats

  • Strictly follow coach instructions and class levels (Morning Flow, Midday Express, Evening Performance).

  • Adapt intensity to your partner’s level; tap when needed and release immediately.

  • Prohibited or restricted techniques depend on level: only what the coach authorises.

  • No unsupervised sparring; no aggressive or unsolicited coaching.

  • Report any pain/injury; if unwell, stop and inform the coach.


6. Fitness area & equipment

  • Towel required on benches/mats; disinfect machines and accessories after use.

  • Clean indoor training shoes (fitness area only).

  • Storage: return all equipment to its place.


7. Common areas & neighbourhood

  • Keep a moderate noise level in reception and corridors.

  • Keep changing rooms clean; do not leave belongings overnight.

  • Respect the neighbourhood (noise, parking, pavements).

  • No animals are allowed in training areas.


8. Children & youth

  • Children/teen classes follow AMV’s schedule and framework.

  • Minors must be brought to class and picked up on time at the end.

  • Outside their timeslot, children do not access training areas.

  • Registration of minors is completed by the legal representative (see GTC – Acceptance).


9. Photos & videos – image rights

  • Photos/videos may be taken during classes/events for AMV channels (website, social media, internal publications).

  • You may request the removal of an image featuring you by writing to contact@amv-geneve.ch.

  • Filming/photography during classes requires prior approval from the coach and from visible participants.


10. Prohibited conduct

  • Access is forbidden when intoxicated or under the influence of substances.

  • Violence, offensive language, discrimination, harassment: zero tolerance.

  • Eating inside the Academy (outside authorised areas) is prohibited.

  • Bringing external guests without authorisation is prohibited.


11. Personal belongings & changing rooms

  • Look after your belongings; AMV accepts no liability for loss, theft or damage.

  • Lockers are cleared each evening; lost‑and‑found items are kept for 30 days.


12. Health & contraindications

  • Inform the coach of any medical limitation (injury, treatment, contraindication).

  • In case of fever or contagious illness, do not attend training.

  • Mouthguard recommended; taping as needed.


13. Sanctions (progressive)

In case of a breach of the Charter:

  1. Reminder / verbal warning,

  2. Written warning or temporary exclusion,

  3. Permanent exclusion from the Academy, without refund.
    In case of deliberate damage or serious misconduct, AMV may take any appropriate measures.


14. Updates to the Charter

This Charter may be updated for organisational, safety or compliance reasons. The version published on AMV’s website prevails (with effective date).
